Starting September 21, a new type of Crisis is coming to the DC Universe. From Tom King, get ready for Heroes in Crisis, a story that will be an emotional roller coaster for our DC world, to say the least. Dealing with the subject of PTSD, a major trauma takes place that puts Booster Gold and Harley Quinn as prime suspects!
Not only do we have preview pages from the first issue, but it was revealed this morning that Mitch Gerads will be the co-artist along with Clay Mann. During a DC event this morning, which The Flash Podcast was at, King spoke about bringing on these two artists who are of great importance to him.
“It’s not something I came up with alone. It’s something I’m executing with a team. It’s something that we are putting together. So let me introduce you please to the artists on Sanctuary, who not by coincidence happened to be my best friends. Clay will be drawing the main books but as the series goes forward we’re going to do sort of deep dives into the emotions of these characters and get inside their lives in a way you’ve never seen in comics before in ways like we did for Mr. Miracle which is why the person doing these deep dive is my other best friend, Mitch Garret’
So the question is why this team on this book, why these two guys, why these three guys. First of all, when you read this book it is something personal and something on the bones of the right the heart of me. And to write something like that you’ve got to be getting close you are to see what they have to know you, you have to know them you have to sort of work in a way you have to be going to be like Frank quietly and Grant Morrison on All-Star Superman you know to two Scottish guys who came up together into the culmination of all their work together and turn that friendship into an epic.”
“There’s a new kind of crisis threatening the heroes of the DC Universe, ripped from real-world headlines by C.I.A.-operative-turned-comics-writer Tom King: How does a superhero handle PTSD? Welcome to Sanctuary, an ultra-secret hospital for superheroes who’ve been traumatized by crime-fighting and cosmic combat. But something goes inexplicably wrong when many patients wind up dead, with two well-known operators as the prime suspects: Harley Quinn and Booster Gold! It’s up to the DC Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to investigate—but can they get the job done in the face of overwhelming opposition?”
