The casting news just keeps coming in for season 2 of The CW’s The Flash! TVLine’s Michael Ausiello revealed exclusively today that actress Violett Beane has been cast to bring the famous Flash character Jesse Quick, another Speedster, to life on the CW series.
The CW describes Beane’s take on the Jesse Quick character as a young brilliant and quirky college student who will be caught up in the battle between The Flash and Zoom, who is the big bad for season 2, although he has yet to be cast. Beane will be appearing in multiple episodes of the season and while TVLine wouldn’t reveal when we will meet her for the first time, we should be hearing more about it sooner rather than later.
In the comic books, Jesse Quick is the alter-ego of Jesse Chambers who is also a hero with super-speed and is the daughter of Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, two Golden Age heroes in DC. It will be interesting to see when (not “if’ – when), Jesse becomes her comic book counterpart, because this season is already introducing Jay Garrick as well as Wally West so they are definitely expanding the Speedster family which is exciting!
The casting of Beane as Jesse Quick comes after the announcement that Demore Barnes has been cast as Henry Hewitt, a famous Firestorm villain from the comic books, in an upcoming episode of the new season.
The Flash is set to premiere its second season on Tuesday October 6, 8/7c on The CW.
