When we speculated on the previous episode of The Flash Podcast, a week ago, we were wondering who this mysterious meta-human that can slow down time, would be who would make his debut in the winter premiere of The Flash – looks like we finally have some answers! Entertainment Weekly announced tonight that Battlestar Galactica’s Aaron Douglas will be playing the Flash villain, The Turtle, in the winter premiere titled “Potential Energy”. The Flash show-runner Andrew Kriesberg said the following about the introduction of The Turtle to EW:
“In a surprisingly funny twist, Cisco [Carlos Valdes] has actually been hunting The Turtle the entire series. To Barry’s surprise, everybody knows about Cisco’s hunt for the great white whale, which is The Turtle; he’s the only one who didn’t know about it. We love the idea that there was a villain out there that they knew about, but they just haven’t bothered to tell the audience about yet. All Barry wants to do is get faster, because if he can get faster, he can take on Zoom. He’s going up against a villain who is literally slowing him down. This is one of our best episodes coming back that we’ve ever done. It feels big and emotional.”
Douglas is no stranger to the world of The CW as he played one of the antagonists on Hellcats (a great series that sadly only lasted for one season). EW wouldn’t say if Douglas will be a recurring villain or a one-off, but he will at least appear next week in the winter premiere “Potential Energy” – let’s see how Barry takes on a meta-human that can slow down time!
The Flash returns next Tuesday, January 19 at 8/7c on The CW where The Turtle will make his debut – are you a fan of BSG and looking forward to see Douglas on the show? Let us know in the comments below!
