The cast of The Flash made their way back to San Diego to attend what can be considered the biggest event for a comic book nerd. This year’s Comic-Con brought fans tons of news, from new villains, love interests and more!
Like every year, the panel begins by showing a trailer for what’s to come in the new season. The biggest takeaway? Sendhil Ramamurthy (New Amsterdam, Heroes) as Dr. Ramsey Bolton aka Bloodwork as the season’s villain. Not only does he have a connection to Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), but showrunner Eric Wallace teased that he’ll be the scariest foe yet.
Wallace also revealed that Season 6 will be broken down into two parts: pre-Crisis and post-Crisis, adding that the season will also have more than one main villain similar to the outline of graphic novels.
As for Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton), the season premiere will take place 10 seconds after Season 5’s finale, which will leave Nora’s (Jessica Parker Kennedy) death very fresh. Patton and Gustin teased that the two will try to move forward, though they’ll realize they aren’t dealing with her death in the healthiest way. The two will also be grappling with the date-change of the newspaper, as Barry’s disappearance has become more imminent.
Patton happily divulged that Central City Citizen will be up and running, adding that Iris has hired new employees for the up and coming company. Patton thinks that fans will be seeing her comic-book roots come to life, as the newspaper now has its own set.
Though Cavanagh wasn’t able to divulge too much about this season’s new Harrison Wells, he teased that he’s a “sensual” version with a knack for adventures.
Panabaker revealed that fans will be treated to a new Killer Frost suit in the premiere. According to Panabaker, the suit has been in the works for a year now, but the show couldn’t find an organic way to introduce it last season. She also revealed that she’ll be stepping behind the camera once more, as she’ll direct episode six of the Season 6.
Carlos Valdes quickly shut down rumors of Cisco leaving the team, adding that though he doesn’t have his vibe powers anymore, he’s still very much a part of the team. Similar to his role in season one, Cisco will still aid the team with science. Cisco’s love life is looking bright, as Kamila (Victoria Park) will be more involved with Team Flash next season. She’ll also be working with Iris for Central City Citizen as the paper’s photographer.
Speaking of romance, Hartley Sawyer teased that Ralph is “ready for some romance.” Looks like he’ll be finding his Sue very quickly!
One major highlight from the panel was when Wallace mentioned that Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) will be returning for a few episodes in Season 6, adding that Kid Flash will be fighting alongside Barry to face one of the “one of the greatest Flash villains.”
